Look at this beautiful beach:

Coldingham Sands near St Abbs, Scotland.

If you’d had a lovely day at the bracing Scottish seaside, you’d want a cafe just there wouldn’t you? Nice hot chocolate with marshmallows, that sort of thing.

Imagine there’s a really quaint one there – been there since WWII – which every one loves. Cool for surfers, grandparents, divers -everybody. Great.

Then imagine that the council tell the owners that it must be demolished. This charming cafe here:

Well, that actually happened. Tiny cafe, tiny community, you’d expect the Council would receive few objections,  but James Bligh wouldn’t let it go. He made a petition on Change.org – and I signed it , along with 1,786 others.

And today I read that the cafe has been saved through people power. Ordinary people really made a difference to this small seaside community. Now that’s a lovely bit of sea magic in action to me.

Cheers!
